CliqueClackDancing With the Stars gets season 18 off on the right foot
‘Dancing With the Stars’ returned with a new batch of celebs, some new pros, a new band and a new co-host, and for the most part the dancing was terrific. Let’s look back on who did best and worst, who has potential and who should go home.
One of the surprises at the end of the show was the announcement of next week’s dances, allegedly picked by the stars … although some of their reactions seemed to say otherwise. Nene picked a Jive, Amy picked Swing, Meryl also chose Swing, Candace picked a “sexy” Rhumba (and she seemed surprised by her choice, especially since she said right up front she wasn’t going to be the sexy girl in skimpy costumes), Danica wants to Samba, Drew will Jive, Sean wants a Salsa routine, James also wants a Salsa, Diana will dance Cha-cha, Billy Dee wants to Tango, Cody will Tango, Chalie will also Tango.
But who will survive to do the dance? Will they hold the elimination right at the top of the show? One of the changes that makes more sense this season than last is that viewer votes will be combined with the judges’ scores from the same episode and the results will come from those combined scores. Last season made no sense to have judges scores from one show and audience votes from another because it was two different dances that were being voted on. They should just get the elimination out of the way right at the start, forget all the “you’re in danger” drama so as not to rattle anyone before they dance, let the departing team do their final dance and move on with the show.
