CBS - It was a pretty slow week for the Tiffany network, with only Amazing Race (10.15m/2.9), Survivor (11.05m/3.1), and the Friday trio of A Gifted Man (8m/1.2), CSI NY (9.73m/1.4), and Blue Bloods (10.97m/1.6) offering new installments. Fortunately, that didn’t stop CBS from having the number one demo show for the week. Unforgettable stepped aside for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (10.39m/4.6), and the dream angels led all of television. You can watch the full show on the CBS website, if you missed it. The other, less successful, new entry was the Grammy Nomination Concert (5.68m/1.9).
NBC - If we were only comparing NBC to NBC, it wasn’t a bad week. Thanks to the other networks slowing things down, most of the shows were up for the week. Unfortunately, we are comparing the networks to each other, so it was still another pretty iffy week for the peacock. After another great Sunday Night Football (20.34m/7.9) number on Sunday, things started slowing down with The Sing Off (5.98m/1.6) and Rock Center (4.35m/1.1). The Biggest Loser (7.12m/2.4) looked better, but is still well off its historical pace.
Parenthood (5.76m/2.1) remained fairly steady, while Harry’s Law (9.88m/1.3) and SVU (9.9m/2.2) turned in very old-skewing results. Perhaps the most disappointing was Thursday. With ABC and CBS mailing the night in, Community (3.74m/1.7), Parks & Rec (3.69m/1.8), The Office (5.71m/2.9), Whitney (3.93m/1.9), and Prime Suspect (4.69m/1.3) all failed to take advantage.
FOX - The X Factor (11.05m/3.7 – 10.34m/3.1) did take advantage of the weakened schedules, putting both episodes over 10 million viewers for the first time in almost a month. The news was also good on Tuesday, with Glee (7.9m/3.2) and New Girl (7.59m/3.6) turning in solid numbers. Raising Hope (5.34m/2.4) remains a little soft, but the real disappointment was probably the premiere of I Hate My Teenage Daughter (6.8m/2.8). Not a bad number, but not really an encouraging one considering it was a premiere following the top show currently on the network.
The rest of the schedule included The Simpsons (5.61m/2.6), Allen Gregory (3.18m/1.5), Family Guy (5.5m/2.8), American Dad (4.48m/2.2), Terra Nova (7.19m/2.2), House (7.41m/2.6), and Bones (8.91m/2.8). Notable there? Allen Gregory probably isn’t long for this world, and the decisions about Terra Nova are starting to look more and more difficult.
ABC - Once Upon A Time (10.69m/3.4) again led the way for the network in a partial week. It was joined by new episodes from Last Man Standing (10.32m/2.4), Man Up (6.61m/1.6), and Body Of Proof (9.49m/1.8). Both bits of special programming – Have A Little Faith (6.44m/1.1) and CMA Country Christmas (9.03m/2.1) failed to make any real sparks.
CW - The biggest surprise from the little network was that Hart Of Dixie (1.9m/.9) was the #1 show in the demo. Granted, Vampire Diaries was in repeats, but that was also a tenth ahead of Next Top Model (1.91m/.8). Given the state of the network, that’s probably a very good sign for the folks in Bluebell. A mostly full week also included Gossip Girl (1.32m/.6), 90210 (1.52m/.8), Ringer (1.6m/.6), Nikita (1.69m/.5), and Supernatural (1.86m/.7).
CABLE - We’ve talked a lot about the ratings successes of The Walking Dead (6.62m/3.5). And we’ll do it this one last time because the mid-season finale sent the show out on top of all the cable shows, and most of the network shows where the demo is concerned. In fact, New Girl was the only scripted show on the major networks that could match our zombie killing pals last week. That’s rather amazing, and something to put a pin in as we wait for the return of Mad Men…
