(Season 5, Episode 12 – “Connect! Connect!” )
“Oh man, I wanna say something helpful, but all I’ve got is ‘that sucks’.” – Mike to Dave, upon hearing how Edie threw him out of the house.
Revenge is a bitter thing to carry around, isn’t it? So we finally get to learn a little more about Dave’s backstory — losing his wife and child, getting hauled into a psych ward, calculatingly marrying Edie so he can live close to Mike and exact revenge. Of course, we knew all that.
I guess Dave will probably go after Katherine, but Mike doesn’t seem any too hyped about having Katherine stay on Wisteria Lane, when she brings up the idea of moving away. Or does he? He sends her flowers, after all. But I still think he and Susan are headed for a reconciliation.
And what is up with Susan just up and moving away with Jackson? What about hers and Mike’s son? Is there no custody agreement that prevents this sort of thing? I loved it when she and Edie get stuck in the storage room together. Susan could take a few cues from Edie on being an independent woman. I’m with Edie on this one: Susan is needy and pathetic, and she’s just moving away with Jackson because she doesn’t want to be without a man.
Yes, I predict that Susan and Mike will get back together, but first Susan will realize that she can be an independent woman without a man. Because she was sitting in a chair by herself at the end, enjoying a cup of tea. I guess she’s never done that before…?
And oh my gosh, what a sad story Edie told about her dad taking her horse collection and giving it to his new girlfriend’s daughter! And then Edie slaps Susan for being such a big simp! Edie and Susan have the funniest love-hate relationship, mostly hate.
How funny that Alex tells Bree to not talk rudely to her husband, because that’s what drove his own mom away. The look Bree gave Alex was priceless. Pure Bree. And later, when she and Orson were in bed together, it was so telling of their relationship when he said, “Even though it’s my turn, I don’t mind if you’re on top.” I really appreciate how things ended with Bree and Alex, though.
I’m still perplexed that Lynette wouldn’t consider the possibility that Porter might be staying with her mother. And wow, she and her mom have issues, don’t they? But good thinking on desperate Lynette’s part to fake an accident so Porter would re-appear at the hospital to see if she’s OK. I guess Lynette is such a good mom because her own mom sucked at the job so much?! But I love how Lynette and her mom ended up talking and laughing. Yeah, that’s nice, even if it seemed a little unrealistic when they seemingly can’t stand to be in the same room together.
I guess Gaby found a new way to work out — drag her surly kids around the house by their feet when they refuse to do stuff. Nice trick, since I’m sure the kid weighs way more than Gaby. Get control of your kids, Gaby! What a pushover! You wanted Carlos to go back to work and earn six figures so you could buy shoes, and now you’ve gotta pay the price by growing a backbone and getting control over your bratty kids. Deal with it.
Maybe the guy walking by on the street is onto something: “Fear is the foundation of all good parenting.”
