ABC - Scoundrels (3.66m/1) and The Gates (3.24m/1.1) didn’t make for a very good start to the week as both of them took pretty good week 2 hits. As expected, The Bachelorette (9.77m/3.2) made for a nice rebound on Monday, with True Beauty (4.76m/1.7) following. There was more good news from Wipeout as well, with good numbers for the Tuesday (8.24m/2.6) and Thursday (8.74m/2.8) outings.
Downfall (3.88m/1.4) wasn’t as fortunate. It looks like viewers have seen all they need to see from that one. While not the ratings winner, Rookie Blue (6.78m/1.8) might have posted the most interesting numbers. That’s solid retention from what looks to be the best of ABC’s scripted summer offerings. Boston Med (5.28m/1.3) continues to struggle.
NBC - Persons Unknown (2.88m/.9) continued down its Defying Gravity-esque path by posting more disappointing numbers and being shuffled out of its original slot. The show will now air on Saturdays, and is worth a look if you haven’t seen it yet. Last Comic Standing (4.18m/1.2) also posted similar results this week. Losing Jillian (4.02m/1.3) was up slightly, but remains disappointing. The best news was, of course, from America’s Got Talent on Tuesday (10.23m/2.9) and Wednesday (12.94m/3.5). 100 Questions (1.89m/.7) somehow hasn’t moved to Saturday, and the week finished quietly with Friday Night Lights (3.48m/1.1).
FOX - Sons Of Tuscon (1.34m/.5) started the week, with more dismal results. The pace picked up on Monday with Lie To Me (6.2m/1.9) continuing to do OK summer numbers. That was again followed by The Good Guys (4.13m/1.2), which has a good head start on those FOX-Friday numbers for fall.
The bigger successes came from the summer reality slate, starting with Hell’s Kitchen (6.01m/2.5 – 6.39m/2.8) on Tuesday, and So You Think You Can Dance on Wednesday (5.88m/2.2) and Thursday (5.79m/2.1). Those SYTYCD numbers are concerning. It’s well off the pace from last summer, and leaves me questioning whether the show is showing its age, or fans are just not embracing the new format.
CBS - The Daytime Emmy Awards (5.64m/1.1) were half of the original programming for the week, but still didn’t make for much of a prime-time draw. The rest of the week’s slate included Flashpoint (5.61m/1.1) and Miami Medical (5.91m/1).
CABLE - The friendly battle at USA between Burn Notice (5.21m/1.5) and Royal Pains (5.32m/1.6) is interesting. It seems like Burn Notice has more buzz, and gets much more coverage, but Royal Pains has once again edged ahead in the numbers. On premium cable, the week also brought the premiere of Showtime’s The Real L-Word (.19m/.1), which managed some pretty unreal ratings. Other cable results for the week:

No soccer ratings?
Boo!
*Vuvuzela*
Shame on you!
;-))
Congrats to Germany! Well done. I should not be so hard on soccer, but how else is a gal supposed to get back at her Latino dad? It’s the only way I tell you! ;)
Thanks :-)
It’s as if I had something to do with it when you congratulate us ;-)
It was a great day for me because I spent it with my father and stepmom and a couple of friends. He’s a former premier league soccer player and we had a great day. Seems you had a great time too with that game :-) It’s awesome to have a young team of players from so many different backgrounds and see them play as if they were from Brazil or England.
How much longer until Law & Order: Criminal Intent is dead? Those ratings are horrible.
The Real L Word… is it possible that the only people watching the show are those who “star” on it?

The Criminal Intent numbers are bad, but you have to keep syndication in mind. The Law & Order franchise, perhaps more than any other show, has legs. Even if it takes an initial hit with the airing of the original, the real money is in the fact that it will be running continuously for the next ten years.
