When Hannah first showed up, I didn’t really care for her. OK, I really disliked her. I was one of those that hoped for an over-the-top coming together of Booth and Brennan. But, that was not to be. So it was natural for me to dislike Hannah, right? There was something about the actress and the character that just rubbed me the wrong way. And, I was not alone in that based on the comments on Julia’s posts. And, of course, Julia is the leader of the Anti-Hannah Club.
But that changed for me, in “The Bones that Weren’t”, when Hannah was in the hospital. I’m not sure what it was, but I began to really like Hannah and see the connection between her and Booth. Even more, I saw how after Brennan saved Hannah’s life, they could all be friends. The final clincher for me was in “The Twisted Bones in the Melted Truck”, when Hannah met Parker. This is the woman for Booth. She is funny, intelligent, and gets along well with his son. She has personality and openly loves Booth and he loves her. They really do make a good partnership.
So where does this all leave our favorite bone lady, Brennan? At the end of last season, I could see the connection between Booth and Brennan. Though I thought her rejection of him on the steps was very in character for her (I know many of you disagree), I expected their separation would bring them together; but that didn’t happen, and I’m very glad. I love the banter between Booth and Brennan; I love the social awkwardness of Brennan and how Booth gets it; but that doesn’t make a romantic partnership that will work for the long term. I don’t want to see Brennan and Booth waking up next to each other. Ugh. I don’t want to see them cuddling on the couch watching a movie. It just doesn’t fit. It wouldn’t be right. But, Booth and Hannah … go for it!
I’m sure plenty of you will hate me in the comments, but that’s OK. The passion people have for this show is amazing and makes this show so special.
On this week’s episode, we finally get to see Brennan show some emotion and grow immensely. Will Bones change forever? Watch to find out!
Maybe the hate will start … but not yet. I agree with you. I like the character and the actress, and have problems with nearly ever male-female co-starring show needing to force the characters together.
TOTALLY AGREE! Bones and Booth don’t belong together. They’re wonderful friends, but nothing more. Anything else would be awkward and go against how they have been written as characters.
Hannah is a nice, smart girl with balls. Exactly what Booth needs.
I WANT to like Hannah, if that makes you feel any better? I theory, I like the idea of her. But when I watch the reality I’m just like… ugh. Why. I don’t know what it is that rubs me about her the wrong way. It isn’t that she’s keeping Booth and Brennan apart, I don’t care about that. It’s something about her.
I don’t know, it’s an irrational thing.
Wrong, just wrong.
I agree with Julia, it’s not that they are keeping B&B apart, it’s that this has messed with the chemistry on the show and it feels like it has taken screen time away from the rest of the awesome characters besides Sweets (and enough Daisy, I want to see more of the other Squinterns!).
I don’t like nor dislike her. She just adds to what is wrong with the entire season. It is disjointed. It seems like the characters are actors acting instead of a fluid group of crime fighters. I don’t know if that makes sense. It is like all the actors are trying to hard. It has become something of a bad play.
I’m with Deb in being somewhat apathetic about Hannah. I don’t like her and I don’t hate her, but I also don’t want to see Booth and Brennan together. The banter those two go through every episode seem, to me at least, more like a brother and sister than potential mates. So in my mind I’ve seen them more as best friends/family than a romantic couple. It would seem weird if they were anything more.
I kind of actively do not want B&B to get together. (I really, really don’t want to see Brennan as a mother, that creeps me OUT, and I don’t want that plotline brought back at all. You know Booth wouldn’t be okay with her being childfree either.) So them being apart is fine by me.
On the other hand, I can’t figure out what to make of Hannah. With Booth, I don’t really care one way or the other. I found her utterly awful in the sunglasses scene, but liked her with Parker in the last episode. So I don’t know what to think. I do think the writers of the show are far more enamored of her than I am so far, which is kind of annoying.
Ok, ok – Hannah’s character has her moments, I’ll give you that. And, I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only one who thought that Brennan and Hannah had more chemistry in the hospital than I’d seen from Booth and Hannah. I think my dislike of the Hannah-Booth relationship is quite simply that I can’t shake the feeling that Booth ‘found love’ for the wrong reasons, to heal his pain over Brennan’s rejection. Then again, I’ve always known their love would forever be star-crossed as long as another season was on the horizon, and ultimately I’d rather have Booth, Brennan and Hannah than no Bones at all. (But can we get some Brennan love, too? I was almost in tears tonight!)
I really think that an active, vocal but small fanbase can hijack a show by insisting that a show put the lead actors together. Ruined House for me. It would ruin NCIS if Ziva and Tony got together. Peter and Olivia – no way on Fringe. Warehouse 13 – I like the sibling banter going on there. I don’t see it on Castle either. Chuck – I think that was a natural progression with Chuck’s growth.
I also think that it would ruin Bones. Booth needs a nurturing person. He is a battle scarred sniper who is emotional and has a son to raise. Brennan is not the right fit for him. They can still explore the science/analytical vs gut/emotional dynamic without putting them together. In fact they might develop it further by showing them in a different relationship.
So please just because a show has a pretty male and female leads – let them develop as people and do not force something that is not there. There are many types of relationships that are interesting.

Love seeing all this passion for the show and opinions.
Ultimately, I don’t really see Booth and Brennan as romantic partners. As mentioned, they are best friends, almost like brother and sister, and that just doesn’t translate into more, like marriage.
I do like Hannah and I think she is good for Booth. That said, I am not tied to her. If she left, I would definitely be good with that, but I still don’t want B & B together.
Thanks everyone for sharing!
The way Hannah & Parker really got along was so great. She is a nice addition to an amazing show. If the Show continues beyond this season and Bones’ confession that she “Missed her shot” in this weeks episode doesn’t lead to Hannah leaving the show. I hope that she could have a more permanent role on the show.
I do believe Booth & Hannah are in love, Since iv grown to like Hannah I would really hate to see her hurt if Booth & Brennan (God forbid) consummate there relationship.
It wouldn’t surprise me if something drastic happens with Hannah and she is killed off.
