So, I was watching the SyFy reality competition Face-Off on Wednesday night. I had just talked to my friend Nick (yes, the same Nick I referenced in last week’s episode review) who has seen the UK version of Being Human. He’s been very good about not giving away the twists, but has also admitted that it is theoretically “killing him,” especially as I’ve made guesses on future episodes.
I’m watching Face-Off, a preview for Being Human comes up. It’s very similar to the preview at the last episode, expect it includes Ray telling Josh, “I’ve been looking for you for two years.” Immediately after, we see Josh lose control and tackle Ray to the ground. That’s when it hits me: Ray was the one who turned Josh into a werewolf!
It makes a lot of sense if you think about it. For one, it’s why Ray knew his name and was able to stalk him so easily. Even in the first scene with Ray and Josh together I wondered how Ray was able to know his name. For another, we already learned that Ray feels very strongly about the divide between vampires and werewolves. He’s obviously pissed that the vampires are in organized numbers. He’s also been very vocal about using violence against the undead. What better way to raise a werewolf army than to create it yourself?
This is also going to be an easy way to write Ray out of the house, if not out of the regular storylines. Josh has already bonded with Ray; even if Aidan tries to explain the guy’s animosity, his roommate might wave it off as an overreaction. If Ray admits (and is even proud to say) that he’s the reason Josh is a monster, I can only imagine Josh going into a rage. I also think this twist could take the show to another level. Two major violent forces clashing, with the roommates stuck in the middle? Crazy.
Now, if you’ve seen the UK version and know that my prediction is right, please don’t give away too much in the comments — I still want to be surprised for Monday. For those of you that have only watch the US versions like me, what do you think about Ray?
