Yep. That’s Chris Brown. He’s famous for a lot of things. Rapping. Last week’s tantrum on GMA. And beating on his girlfriend Rhianna. Suffice it to say, I’m not a fan of the guy. After his reaction to the infamous interview on GMA recently, when he didn’t want to talk about what happened with Rhianna, and then busted up his dressing room and broke a window, sending glass down onto a New York street; well I liked him even less. I wonder. WHY can’t these celebrities simply shut up and behave? I mean, I have to shut up and behave in society. So why shouldn’t they have to? And more importantly … what kind of behavior ruins a career anymore? I’m thinking it’s not cheating on your wife thirteen times. Or racial slurs. Or drugs and viral videos of yourself obviously going crazy. Or landing your girlfriend in the hospital. Nope. That kind of stuff lands you gigs on Dancing With the Stars to make money for your new album. Heavy sigh. Heavy.
So Brown “performed” twice, and I gotta say — he’s NOT ready for his closeup Mr. DeMille. That lip synching was some of the worst I’ve ever seen. But I guess I have to give it to host Tom Bergeron. I could see on his face how much he was holding himself back from commenting in any way. I really would have liked to hear what he had to say. However, it was all about the audience just loving on Chris Brown and finding him marvy. Have I sighed yet?
Enough. Oh. Except for this final thought. If you light up your background dancers, it helps.
Anyway, I was right about Mike Catherwood. And for that, I’m patting my own self wherever I feel the need to be patted. He just didn’t have the fan base, with the double whammy of not being a good dancer.
And so it goes. See you next week!
Well, I DVR’d the show last night so I could FF through his numbers. Did you see where Bergeron said in a radio interview that he advised the producers to not have him interview Brown, that it would be in everyone’s best interest because if they told him not to ask certain questions he would have asked them. Good for him! I wonder if he put a little emphasis on his intro, “singing his number one HIT,” or if that was just me? And now ABC and GMA are rumored to want to put together a Chris/Rihanna reunion?!?! Even Wendy Williams doesn’t like that idea!
And he stole the lighted-up dancers from the BEP Super Bowl show!
. . . . .
Chuck:
I had the program on in the background and thought I heard the same thing as you regarding the emphasis on “HIT”. Grapevines think alike.
The ass should have been nixed from the program last night.
That … or the producers should have put together a “mock” beat down on him with Lacey doing the honors, ala Seacrust / Hogan on last week’s Idol.
P.S.: … freakin’ autotune …
Definitely should have been uninvited after the GMA incident … frankly he shouldn’t be getting any air time at all. But ratings are the name of the game, and it seems no matter how notorious or egregious your behavior, you can still get on TV to promote your product.
And the first second I saw before I hit the FF button seemed to be lip-synced.
Yes Chuck you’re right! I think Usher did that light up thing first.
Oh you mean someone was singing while the dancers strutted their stuff? Guess I missed that (rofl)
Yeah Tara,
I also DVR’d it so I forwarded through his performance so,I didn’t see anything but the results. He should not have been on that show or any. I totally agree with you. And I also guessed it would be Mike “pigeon-toed” Catherwood. I really think Wendy is equally untalented but she has a fan base. And Sugar Ray is not very good but he’s the old guy so, that mean the older audience is voting for him.
I think Sugar Ray is better than Wendy for a long shot.
At first I have to say I went to smoke when Chris was on so I didn’t see any of it.
I just heard on Inside that Kristie and others left to go to a book signing so they did not have to interact with Chris. I don’t think he should have been on after what he did on GMA. And I agree you and I would not be allowed to act like that. I just read that Willie Nelson is going to get to plead out on his charge if he sings Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain for the judge. It really is getting stupid.
I sat through the first performance, and took a potty break for the second. Time better spent. I missed Tom’s “Hit” emphasis, but I may have already left the room. I was surprised that they had Brown on the show at all, given the Rhianna incident, and wonder whose palm was being greased for that one. Didn’t know anything about the GMA incident because I really don’t pay attention to losers like that.
As for the results… I was satisfied. And this new dance troupe thing… did the pros get tired of having to perform other numbers during the results show? Just what we need, more fluff to fast forward through.
