Well, the second Dancing With the Stars elimination had quite a few shockers, no? (Spoiler alert – the results are revealed below.)
It really was no surprise that Katherine, William and Rochon were all safe … and it would have been even more shocking had any of them been in danger. But it was a tight race after this week’s Very Special Episode with only five points separating first place (Katherine & Mark with 29) and the five-way tie for last place. After the first batch of celebs were told their fate, Gavin & Karina were the first to learn they were in jeopardy. Granted, Gavin did not start out on the best foot, so to speak, but he has shown marked improvement from week to week and did quite a nice job in his third outing. But, he was one of the five stars in last place.
When the second batch of celebs were on deck, we had Jaleel and Kym in the mix. If you read my thoughts on the performance show, you know I thought very little of Jaleel’s dancing performance, and even less of his acting performance with Brooke during the scoring (as did a few of our readers). Jaleel has never matched his first week performance and, unlike Gavin, has not shown any real improvement. He’s been going backwards as far as I’m concerned, but the judges were on some kind of meds to be praising his lackluster dance. When the results were announced, I was shocked to find that crocodile tears and Urkel fans are a powerful combination that kept Jaleel safe and put Gladys & Tristan in jeopardy! Seriously?!
I was happy Sherri got an early pass from the producers as they allowed Brooke to give her the good news up in the sky box, but that left Donald & Peta, Melissa & Maks, and Jack & Anna to await their fates. Again, no surprise at all that Donald & Peta were safe, but then it was between two TV icons to battle it out. As I said about the performance show, Melissa has shown no improvement, and again, the judges way over-praised her dance that had a good beginning and end, but a mess of a middle with some really sloppy footwork. Jack, on the other hand, had his best dance yet and is showing improvement. But somehow, Melissa ended up safe and Jack was in jeopardy.
Thankfully, Gladys & Tristan were saved, apparently not quite at the bottom, but then we were left with two of the most improved dancers facing the chopping block. With the scores so close, it really did come down to viewer votes and here’s where the shock came. Both Gavin and Jack had 24 points, so naturally you’d think Jack had a lock with his fan base from his days on General Hospital, Melrose Place and The Bold and the Beautiful. But I’ve seriously misjudged the fan base for Gavin because he made it through to next week and Jack … is the second star to go. I really was hoping Len was foreshadowing something at the start of the show when he said no one deserved to go home this week, but someone did and I, for one, think the wrong star was sent packing this week (and the wrong two were in jeopardy).
Did you think it was already time for Jack to leave? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Things I Don’t Understand, Part 1: Why does Gavin and that perpetual dopey smile on his face, no matter the situation?
Perplexing …
Maybe he’s just happy Michael, or enjoying himself.
Cynical, much?
I think Gavin is definitely out of his element so it’s quite the experience for him. But I think he seems very sincere and is definitely giving it his all and is determined to have a good time.
