Well, they can’t all be amazing, can they? Last night’s episode of Dallas wasn’t nearly as exciting as the previous installment, but it did offer some interesting tidbits. For starters, John Ross is onto Rebecca. Now, how’s that for an interesting twist? Despite their differences, I was actually hoping that John Ross would stick up for Christopher and defend him — but it seems he’s just all about blackmail and scheming.
It’s just sad that his father is playing a scheme on him. J.R. is still up to no good, and while he didn’t really deliver any sharp one-liners last night, I did enjoy seeing him on screen. It’s sad to me that no one on this show can really trust each other. I mean, damn. I had no idea that oil was that precious! You couldn’t pay me to work for the Ewings! That’s a family in need of Dr. Phil. Still, when it comes down to it, I’m rooting for J.R. in this battle of wits that he has going on with his son. As old and grumpy as he has become, he still wants Southfork. Now, that’s a damn shame.
You know what else is a shame: the fact that John Ross is still after Elena. Isn’t it obvious to him that her heart still belongs to Christopher? I guess not. In other news, I did enjoy seeing Sue Ellen back this week, and I liked the fact that she was taking lunch with Cliff Barnes … much to the chagrin of J.R. I liked how she told her ex-husband off about sticking his nose in her business. She’s a lot stronger after giving up the booze, huh? Nevertheless, Sue Ellen is right: she can see whoever she wants to see. Still, it does beg the question — what’s she up to?
It seems that lingering questions is the general theme with this show. While I thought this episode was a bit slow, I am enjoying the series so far. I just hope and pray that all of these ongoing plots are wrapped up in the finale … with a satisfying cliffhanger to kick off the next season of course. I would expect nothing more from a program known for delivering one the biggest cliffhangers of all time.
Despite it being a holiday next week, TNT is airing a new episode which means more betrayal, more backstabbing, more secrets, and more heated talks of, well, oil. At least we won’t see Rebecca trying to trick a former drug addict into using again. That scene irked me for some reason. So, will Bobby beat his cancer? Will Christopher find out about Rebecca? Will J.R. get Southfork? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below!
