The one question I have coming out of this episode is whether we’ve really seen the last of Calculon on Futurama. Can a robot really be “dead,” or perhaps he’ll live on again in a robot version of a head jar? Whatever the answer, I’m sure the answer to my initial question is no; we’ll be seeing him again some day. If nothing else, in repeats of his soap.
Here are the best quotes from the episode. Unfortunately, it was a little light on the doozies:
“If this show’s a-rockin’, don’t come a-knockin’.” – Title card
“Calculon really Shatnered the hell out of that scene!” – Bender
“Ugh! I can’t not work like this!” – Calculon
“They’re attention parasites; they feed on the admiration of their prey.” – Professor
“Just like the noble buffalo.” – Leela
“Nothing like a buffalo!” – Professor
“As much as I hate you, I hate Langdon Cobb more. He beats me out for every award, every role, every paternity suit. …” – Calculon
“Voila! The tragic end of Rome-O and Julie-T.” – Bender
“That’s Romeo and Juliet, dummy. By Wil.I.Am Shakespeare.” – Leela
“I’m a celebrity! I can kill anyone I want!” – Calculon
“Bossy to Stinky, come in Stinky.” – Leela, over radio
“I always come in stinky.” – Zoidberg, answering back
“The attention Cobb’s getting is inflating his ego. It’s going totally Kanye!” – Professor
“There’s a fungus among us!” – Zoidberg
It says something about Maurice LaMarche’s talent that his hammy actor robot performed one of the best versions of Romeo’s death scene I’ve seen in a long while.
THANK YOU! I’ve been searching the net for someone, anyone that felt the same way… I was sitting in my living room giving the tv the most attention I think I’ve ever given it… It was masterful.
