Big Brother – One House Guest “cleans up” in the Power of Veto competition

We're only into the third episode of 'Big Brother,' but the season is off to a great start. We've already had enough double-crosses for an entire season, and I get immense joy from seeing Boogie squirm when things aren't going his way.

The Laundromat Power of Veto competition

It’s hard to focus on what happens in one episode of Big Brother when you know all the dish that’s been happening in the house in real time from the live feeds. We’ll get to that in a bit, but I’ll post it as a spoiler just in case you don’t want to know. If you saw my breaking news about the “coup” yesterday, you already know some juicy stuff is coming (and apparently we’ll see some it on the live show … since what happened Tuesday and Wednesday this week cannot be ignored).

Let’s focus on the aftermath of Willie’s nominations for eviction: Frank and Kara. Or more specifically, the coaches. I am not a fan of Mike “Boogie” at all. I never saw his first season, but I loathed him on Big Brother All-Stars. He’s skeevy and a scuzball, and from what I’ve read about him outside of the game, he’s just gross all around. So I wasn’t happy to see him back in the game (I hate Jessie too, but even he would have been slightly more appealing), and I got a kick out of watching him floundering after all of his big talk about being a winner and everyone has to step aside for him. The look of shock on his face when Frank was nominated was precious. Watching him try to bully Britney, who was having none of it, and then seeing him rattled by her nonchalance was awesome. Seeing him crawl to Janelle to backstab his ally Dan and watching her play him without him having a clue … priceless. I like Frank, and if anyone should stay in the game right now, it should be him (I always go for a competitor over a floater, and Kara is already just sitting back and letting Dan do all the work for her), but if his eviction knocks Boogie down a coupla pegs … well, sorry, dude but ya gotta go.

Of course, things could change on a dime (or $1.30) with the Power of Veto competition. Willie and the two nominees got to pick three additional players, and in the Diary Room, Frank said he did not want Danielle picked because she would take Kara off the block, and he didn’t want Shane picked either. The first two names drawn out of the magic bag? Danielle and Shane, of course. I’m convinced the producers only put three names in the bag just to screw with everyone. Everyone got all soaped up in the “laundrymat,” as Jojo pronounced it, trying to toss giant coins into washing machines to total $1.30. Poor Wil was pathetic, and Danielle was no better, throwing overhand when Dan was telling her underhand. Frank could not get a coin in the slot to save his life, but he was finally up to $1.25, as were Willie and Shane. By a hair, Shane got his last nickel in ahead of Willie and won the Power of Veto.

Of course, Shane took the opportunity to make deals with both Kara, Dan, Frank and Boogie, and in the end he … did not use the veto, saying it was too early in the game and not in his best interest at this time. So Frank and Kara remain on the block, and one of them will be evicted on the live show. But who? The events in the house last night could determine that fate. Read on if you want to know a little more of what happened after Willie’s attempt to pit the house against the coaches.

Things got very heated after Willie called a house meeting without the coaches, told everyone that Britney and Janelle felt the coaches were probably coming into the game at some point (week 4 was mentioned), and advised everyone to start playing their own games and not doing everything the coaches told them to do. Willie explained to Frank that’s how he ended up getting nominated. Joe immediately ran to Janelle and spilled the beans and that got around to everyone, putting a target on Joe’s back for next week. Willie and Frank had a conversation later in the evening, and Willie told Frank he was not the target, that everyone wanted to get Kara out. But Frank, who tried to play nice with Willie after the nomination, was still pissed that he was on the block in the first place after he aligned himself with Willie and swore that he had Willie’s back after that. Willie insisted that Frank was not the target, but the argument escalated to the point where Frank said Willie messed up his game, and Willie said Frank just messed up both their games, and that he would be going out next week because of Frank’s outburst. Frank told everyone to vote for whoever they wanted to vote for, not listen to the coaches, and what was done was done. But, it looks like it’s going to come down to a tie at this point with a 4 – 4 vote, leaving the decision to Willie. If that does happen — and a lot can change overnight — will Willie do the right thing and save Frank?
