The first results of NBC’s Olympic promotion are in, and they’re not encouraging. Over on cable, the news was much better for TNT with their big series finale for ‘The Closer’, and premiere of ‘Major Crimes’.
This week you’ll find new sets for ‘Hatfields & McCoys’, ‘House’, ‘NCIS’, ‘Revenge’, ‘NCIS’, ‘The Closer’, ‘Mike & Molly’, ‘Wallander’, ‘Perry Mason’, ‘Tom & Jerry’, ‘Super Hero Squad’, ‘Shakugan no Shana’, ‘Tiny Toon Adventures’, ‘Tintin’, and ‘Power Rangers’.
Another good procedural has come to an end. Darn! In this week’s Clacking in Color, the enlightening column celebrating minorities on television, writer Jaylen Christie wonders how TNT’s ‘The Closer’ would have been without one of its main characters.
After seven seasons, ‘The Closer’ has come to an end … in a way. Brenda Leigh Johnson has left the department, but those remaining will continue on in TNT’s new show, ‘Major Crimes.’ But, it won’t be the same without Deputy Chief Johnson.
The Olympics continued to dominate all of television, moving into position to pass the Beijing games as the most watched TV event in US history. On cable, ‘Dallas’ wrapped season one on a good note.
The London Olympic Games took over all of television last week. The networks largely went with the run and hide philosophy. The shows that did brave the games met with varied success, and failure.
If there’s one thing we all have learned by this point… people, in the general, do like a good opening ceremony. As expected, the ‘Olympic Games’ got off to a great start for NBC. Over on cable, the starts weren’t quite as good for ‘Warehouse 13′ and ‘Alphas’.
