There are two things in this world that hurt my otherwise invulnerable body. The first thing is getting punched in the nose. The second thing is hearing or reading about two of my favorite stars hating on each other. The latter recently sent a sharp pain through my soul, as news surfaced that Simon Pegg totally slammed Ricky Gervais, calling him a “fat idiot.” Ouch. Can’t we all just get along? Isn’t the British comedy world big enough for all of us? That wasn’t rhetorical; I really want to know if it’s big enough for me to join in on the mean fun.
Well, in case you spent too much time feeling super-sad, like me, over the thought that two amazing comedians not being able to get along, have no fear. As it turns out, it was just a case of mutual teasing. You know how the jokesters do, joking and all. Pegg even had to write a blog about it on his official MySpace. You know it’s serious business when clarification needs to surface on a celeb’s profile page. Also, Pegg said that Gervais’s initial response to the “fat idiot” remark was: “It’s glandular, you cunt,” reminding me once again why I absolutely adore both these guys.
