Unlike last week, where we got three killings in one episode, this week we got one with Hunter Jennings. I’m not sure what to say to you if you didn’t see this one coming very early on. Notice the money and the gun were what dearly departed Uncle Marty was toting around on the island ferry in the first episode? Clearly whoever is behind the killings cares nothing of money.
The question I have is about Hunter’s boat. Did he just pull it up to the inn docks that night, or was it there all the time he was on the island? Since Trish and others didn’t know he was on the island until he showed his face, I’m going with the boat being there on the dock for only that night. Seeing as he didn’t stay very long at all, the cash and the gun would have had to been placed there really quickly and by someone likely not at the party. That points a finger right in Jimmy Mance‘s direction, and it fits pretty closely with everything else we’ve seen so far. Remember, he’s also pretty handy with boats.
What will be interesting to see is how the red eyes are significant. Maybe it’ll wind up being some disgruntled deputy of Sherriff Mills, pissed off for working the late night shifts.
Ah, how interesting that Keith mentioned Jimmy — I swear we didn’t discuss this! — because I was thinking Jimmy was looking good as a suspect as well. Between Henry wielding the knife in Hunter’s closet, and then setting up Trish, I’m thinking Henry is out as a suspect. We just saw his dark side too early in the series. Bummer; I kinda liked him for it.
I liked the character development we got this week: Cal’s got some stones, getting Sully back for leaving him hanging, literally; Richard’s kinky sex games with his wife’s stepmother (ewwww….); Shane’s instability (wait — that’s not new); and Chloe’s complete devotion to Cal. Yeah, she’s the next to go….
What I can’t figure out is why no one has expressed any sense of alarm that the victims are missing. OK, we got the lame text from Uncle Marty, but you can’t convince me that no one noticed Lucy the socialite (and her little dog too….) was missing from the spa. Hello, the spa, people?
I’m with Keith about the red eyes … maybe it’s the writers’ way of toying with us — a red herring, literally?
I have decided it’s Abby. I have come to this conclusion in the same way I determine algebra equations – with absolutely not way to show the work behind said determination. LOL
No way its Henry. He’s too obvious. Some others are just too stupid. I’m getting a “Scream” vibe as this progresses, but I’m going for the crazed daughter of the slain mother who is angry at the “best friend” (a boy I’m sure she has had feelings for) because he forced her back to the island with his wedding, and anger at everyone and everything, father included, who did not protect her mother and her childhood.
I’m still enjoying it. As a huge horror/slasher fan, they are doing a great job keeping things interesting, even in keeping some of the deaths as no-brainers (oooh! they should have a no-brainer death).
Was Henry holding a knife in Hunter’s closet – I thought it was that piece of paper (folded) that showed future father-in-law paid for Hunter to be on the island. I rewinded it and checked, that’s what I thought it was – but I could be wrong ( I was watching it at 2am so)
And was it Hunter’s boat. I mean did he only rent it to get to the island, cause if that’s the case no one would of thought a thing about that boat being on the dock.
It could of been some one at the party because as we saw the father-in-law made it to the dock and he was at the party. Or they could of set it up before the dinner.
If it Jimmy then he just kills randomly. I mean Lucy and Hunter mean nothing to him. If it is Abby why did she kill the girl(oh what’s her name?) whose mother was killed too when she was young.
I’m still clueless and I’m happy with that for now.
But let’s not forget the first murder happened off the island – so are we to presume it was someone on the boat?
oh I don’t know anything, but I’m enjoying the show
just my thoughts
Well, Jimmy’s still a boat guy and conveniently didn’t discover that body — just seaweed — so he could still be a suspect.
Sorry, it wasn’t a knife Henry had, it was a letter opener, and Hunter found it on the bed after Henry plopped it there and snuck out of the room.
i wonder why nobody is asking about the missing people too, especially lucy, but i guess we just have to overlook that in order for this show to work then…i mean, a week-long wedding party at creepy island with a murderous past, um, yeah, how romantic.
i think there’s more than one killer. all the killings are kind of random right now, i wonder if some of the people are killed to mislead and cover the other real targets, or are they actually connected somehow.
Useless guesswork of the week:
Abby is still in (as the killer), I’m not so sure of Henry anymore. But from an (almost) logical point of view it has to be him. Without him there would be no wedding on the island, he brought them all together and since there is the backplot about the Wakefield murders, the family he marries into has to be tied to Wakefield somehow (bad grammar, I know…).
The Kelly hanging was not the work of Abby. It was either a real suicide or an fatal accident covered up as a suicide. My guess is, that either her ex-boyfriend or some other locals visited her and got angry about her leaving or having sex with creepy kid and then it got a little bit out of control…
Maybe I shouldn’t have posted 10 minutes before I was finished with watching this episode…
Kelly was Abby’s work. Her Wakefield-shtick in the barn was a little bit too schizophrenic. The Hunter kill was done by Henry, he is our boatsuperknowledgeman with excellent shooting skills after all.
Btw, I like that the authors are creative with the killings, it could be a little more graphic (even Heroes or CSI show more), but, well, you can’t have everything.
Just watched the first 3 eps. I am trying not to think about who the killer is and just enjoy it. But, to join in the speculation. I don’t think it is Abby or Henry. I think the killings were triggered by the return of Abby to the island. Or, perhaps Henry.
Is Wakefield really dead? We don’t really know. Who was Wakefield, not sure?!?! Did he have a family?
One killer or many?
Show has kept my interest so far.
The boat had markings indicating it belonged to the Inn where the wedding guests were staying
as for the red eyes … I thought it was just a clue for the sheriff to connect to the bear statue and therefore the article inside the box underneath the statue …
My Mum and I are watching this and trying to figure it out together. Mum thinks (and I concur, thus far) that the killer is Trish’s Dad. He obviously doesn’t want Trish to marry Henry, that’s why he killed the preacher. Uncle Marty found him out, so he died. Hunter Jennings was just a loose end. He killed Kelly to throw suspicion on JD another bad thing for Henry. Lucy, well she was just annoying and needed to die anyway =)(really can’t explain her…). Anyway, that’s our theory, may not hold water. We’re having a blast trying to figure everything out.
Ok, i have downloaded up to episode five and here are some clear facts about the characters and the killer.
1.) We know that the link is with Madison the little girl and she keeps referring to her “new friend” as a male and that her new friend is telling her about the murders.
2.) Yes the first murder happened on the boat with Cousin Ben, however the boat was registered at the Island so it could have been any of the island staff, which puts into suspect Jimmy
3.) All the killings have been linked back to the Inn, the shotgun, the matches, the rope, the knife. So that means Maggie the wedding planner is suspect. Also Maggie has been on the Island since the original murders and she also frames JD with the fire crackers.
4.) Finally the Sheriff is suspect, he knows alot more than he is letting on. Also he supposedly shot Wakefield however there were no witnesses and they never found the body so did the Sheriff really kill Wakefield??? In addition, in the trailers you see that the Sheriff shut down the island so no one is aloud in or out, so this could be a plan to trap everyone for his own gain.
In my opinion i think there is more than one killer however i am pretty sure that its a guy. Im putting my money on Jimmy. He has motive, strength and intent. The sheriff is just to obvious however i can see that there will be a link between, Sheriff, Abby, Abby’s mum and Wakefield. Maybe Wakefield had an affair with Abby’s mum???
As you can see alot is still in the air and i think there will be many twists.
Just a hint to find out a bit more about who dies, watch all the trailers in slow motion and you will see little clues :)
BACKING IT UP A BIT.
i’m not sure if this was said by anyone.
but look carefully at the end of this episode people.
the tag on the boat definitely says candlewick inn.
I’m almost positive that it was not Hunter’s boat.
With the progression in these new episodes,
I do have some questions.
At the end of one episode,
Trish falls into the pool and the plastic cover begins to slide across.
I’m not positive about whether this was done every night
or if it was a plot to kill her.
The death of Wellington shocked me.
I do believe that it is his step wife.
Also, as the person said above me,
I did go through the commercials to determine,
but one of them showed Mr. Wellington falling through a suspended bridge (i am not getting this confused with uncle marty)
I believe the commercials are edited to trick people like me (haha) who go through the commercials in slow motion trying to eliminate every possibility.
I was also somewhat angry about the delay in episodes last night. Love the show.
Good day
booth is still alive, and is Wakefield’s son. This isn’t just about revenge, somehow, the property is involved.
