Really, the minute Laura San Giacomo started bitching about the ex-sex offender living a few doors down, did anyone think she wasn’t going to be guilty of something? Why else would she be on the show? High profile guest appearances annoy me.
I’ve never understood the whole sex offender thing, and why they have to register when no other criminal does. And the offenses they consider sex offenses in some states are so ridiculous (just do some research), that the need for them to register when a murder doesn’t has always bugged me. Guilty until proven innocent? If that’s the case, then why do you need an alibi if there’s no other evidence against you? All crimes suck and, all victims suffer. End of story. Sorry for the rant, but sometimes it’s fitting to mention the things that just bug the hell out of me.
Back to the San Giacomo character. These types of stories are so horrid. To think that a girl (or a woman) would cry rape is bad enough, but to think that a mother would then compound an already bad situation and use his past crime to frame a guy for the murder of her daughter to collect an inheritance … it’s just sick. And the kicker? This stuff really happens. I watch it on A&E, Discovery Channel and many others all the time. The world is such a mess, even without all of these shows. But do these help? I vote no. Why do we continue to give ideas to creeps and freaks?
To top it all off, we have the male/female, patriarch/matriarch butting of heads about who gets to continue their education. Allison put her education off for 18 years to raise a family, but Jake gets the chance to make more money, so he makes the decision to go ahead and force her to put off law school while he gets another MBA. This isn’t my Jake. Getting drunk, making decisions without consulting Allison. The best part of Medium has always been the family dynamic, and this season we get closer and closer to a Dubois divorce.
I hate that the show is ending, but I dislike even more what has happened to the family. Our characters are growing apart, seemingly wanting different things out of life. They spend less and less time together drinking a beer in the backyard, or spending time on the couch watching TV as a family. Those were the scenarios that made the Dubois family so credible. I can only hope that we get some sort of happy ending before the Dubois family leaves our screens after only four more episodes.

I REALLY enjoyed the couple of seasons of Medium. The relationship between Allison and Joe, Bridget was a kick, and most of the time, the scripts were excellent.
Then…something happened. It’s like the writing staff is … haunted.
Farewell, Medium.
Your right, it isn’t our Jake. It is however, still our Joe.

HA! Oops – thinking Jake Weber. He’s more our Jake the actor, than our Joe the character, in my opinion.
I know it drives you guys crazy when we point out mistakes, but that one made me laugh, because that was exactly what I thought when I read it!
I’m bummed that Medium is cancelled, but I hope he is back on tv quickly. Joe Dubois is one of the most solid characters on tv and that is because of Jake Weber. No one else could have done the same thing in that role.

I’ve loved everything Weber has ever been in. There was an HBO show years ago and he rocked it. The Mind of the Married Man. I’ll also watch the Dawn of the Dead remake 1000 times because he’s so good in it. He deserves a hard lead in a project, stat!
Total agreement here, although I’ve never seen The Mind of the Married Man….guess I’ll be looking for it on dvd over the holiday weekend!
He is completely solid in everything I’ve ever seen him in!!!
