Yet another chapter in the Charlie Sheen tale

I have the toughest time understanding the downward spirals celebrities seem to find themselves in. Especially in this case. How about you?

Charlie Sheen Ferris BuellerThis, right here, is a constant conundrum to me.

On the set, Charlie Sheen has the ability to be completely professional. Upstanding. Attentive. Helpful. Assistive.

Take away that structure and form, however, and all hell breaks loose.

We like peeking around the corner at the real goings-on of some of our favorite people. Aren’t their lives interesting when they’re not in front of the cameras?

To answer the question: No … they really aren’t. Not in this case, at any rate. It’s sad commentary on the state of our lust for information when a train wreck occurs. And that’s exactly what’s going on with Charlie Sheen.

When things like this happen to us, our natural inclinations are to: 1) Shake our heads and comment on it in one form or another, 2) Fix it,  or 3) Walk away from it. Celebrities, on the other hand, are a different matter all together for us. They bring out our voyeuristic tendencies.

Charlie Sheen is a funny guy in front of the camera. It appears, however, he needs help when a camera isn’t trained on him or when one isn’t around him.

In all sincerity, I do hope the fellow finds peace and understanding in the midst of all his turmoil.

But that, apparently, is a difficult, difficult journey for him to begin to navigate. …

Listen. I would rather wrap my own tongue around my head than say something bad about someone. You know me. But. This guy has no redeeming qualities. The porn star who was watching porn with him (for hours) said his “biggest dream” is to buy a 20 million dollar mansion and have 27 bedrooms filled with … porn stars. He supposedly said he’d call it the “House of Porn.” Whether that’s massive amounts of cocaine and alcohol talking, I could not tell ya. But does it matter?

While it’s a pity, I can understand someone with control issues (as in lack of), lots of money and fame basically losing it like Charlie Sheen has. What I can’t understand, and I’ve tried by watching it several times, is the appeal of 2 1/2 Men.

I, too, hope Charlie finds peace, but I’ll never get that show.
