FOX – It would seem that American Idol doesn’t really miss Simon all that much after all. Following a bit of a stumble with the last performance show (20.57m/6.4), the Idol finale (29.29m/9.2) again brought huge numbers. That was well above the numbers for the finale last season (24.22m/8.2). Earlier in the week, there were more finales from The Simpsons (5.25m/2.5), Bob’s Burgers (4.31m/2.1), House (9.11m/3.4), Chicago Code (7.11m/2), and Glee (11.8m/4.6). Glee had a big boost as it followed the final performance show for Idol.
ABC - It wasn’t at Idol levels, but the Dancing With The Stars finale (21.42m/4.6) was also up over the finale for last spring. That came on the heels of a very good number for the final performance show (22.86m/4.7). The Wednesday comedies also got the finale treatment, with The Middle (7.33m/2.2), Modern Family (10.31m/4.2), Cougar Town (5.01m/2), and Happy Endings (4.02m/1.7) all signing off until next season. The week started with an ok result for the Billboard Music Awards (7.88m/3). Finally, the ABC summer officially began with the return of The Bachelorette (9.02m/2.8).
NBC – Celebrity Apprentice (8.61m/3) kicked off the final week of the season on a solid note. Things then quickly slowed down with the series finale of The Event (4.89m/1.6) on Monday. Although, that was better than expected. Biggest Loser (8.2m/3.1) rounded out what has been another solid season to complete the finales. L&O LA (5.91m/1.3 – 5.47m/1.3) continued to play out the string with two more uneventful results, while The Voice (8.49m/3.8) took a bit of a hit when faced with the DWTS finale. Friday Night Lights (2.91m/.8) finished out the week.
CBS - Jesse Stone was back with Innocents Lost (13.93m/1.3), skewing as old as ever. He was joined by Clash of the Commercials (6.84m/1.9) and the series finale of Suspect Behavior (7.25m/1.8) to make up the four hour week for CBS.
