Well. Who can I abhor now that Max has been sent packing his knives on MasterChef? I suppose I could hate the person who stole my husband’s license plates last Friday night. Or this friend of my mother’s who really grates on me. Or my writing partner, who’s always an easy target. *wink wink there Michael* But all these ideas seem to easy. So, I’ll have to shift my Grinchy feelings (yes, I have those year round) to another contestant. Step right up Christine! My, she’s a bit psychotic, isn’t she? What with all the crying and swearing and constant threat to us that she’s about to throw up. I say, do it already! Let’s have a fine technicolor yawn to talk about! But no. I don’t think I’ll get my wish there, as this is a girl who can case sausages and not bat an eyelash. I mean I myself was a-gaggin’ just watching!
Of course I am referring to the first challenge, where the Red and Blue Teams squared off to grill the perfect sausage for some one hundred Harley aficionados. Those of you who know me won’t be surprised to learn that I had to watch this entire cook off from behind my fingers. See, “casings” really freak me out. Hey. Eat them if you want. It’s none of my beeswax. I just can’t get over what the hell they might be made of. (And if you know, please don’t tell me.)
Enough of that, except to say that the teams really should listen to the judges ideas more, as they come to them and give pointers. As in, when my Gordon tells you your casings are too tight and the sausages will burst through, possibly switch up the people doing the casing (Esther.) Or. If Joe and Graham comment that your toppings are waaay too sweet, maybe re-think that Tracy. They didn’t get where they are for nuthin’.
And Esther? Well, she was quick to take advantage of being safe, with no regard to Max or Christine. Good for her! Every man/chick for themselves. Even though it wasn’t very nice, and she should have taken some sort of responsibility.
Steak is really not my thing either. But the husband was a chef at one point, and he gave me a great play by play of what was being done right and wrong during the Pressure Challenge. It ain’t easy cooking meat to order. And I’m kind of relieved to see the back of Max’s front. I was tired (tired I tell you) of the drama. I would have died if he stayed! I would have sacrificed an eggplant in my kitchen! I would have worn black for a year! What? Oh. I guess I wasn’t quite tired of the drama yet.
Anyway. Christina is now on my radar. My guess is Suzy will switch her angst and false bravado onto her now, and we may be in for a good kitten fight.
I say … MEOW!
Now I think Max left on a very classy note … well, classy for him! He was very gracious with what he said about Christine, and really, being gracious about her with her abhorrent behavior was pretty classy. She’s quite disgusting.
I will miss Max and Suzy’s “dance” and Tara, you still have her giant ego to hate! :-)
I would like to state that Max is the most arrogant SOB I have ever had the misfortune to watch on TV. The way he smirks at other people when they muck up makes me sick – he is obviously quite clever with his cooking, but his attitude needs a major shakeup – he proves why the rest of the world hate you arrogant americans
Debbie; I was surprised as well how toned down he was, for him. But after all the smack talk he’s done, I hope he was a trifle embarrassed.
How could Max be 50 seconds away from achieving a perfect well done steak and be the one leaving the show? Christine’s behavior and anger at Esther will certainly make good television.
John, he probably did do better in that challenge. Sometimes I wonder if the judges look at how much someone wants it. Unfortunately, contestants put on some histrionics for that step up.
It is a shame that Max left, clearly using his time wisely, searing the edges, at least trying to finish off his medium steak in the oven, using proven techineques. His plating skills were superb for his age, his composure, every detail.
out right shame he is off the show!
Javan … I have mixed feelings. He was so obnoxious. But I guess you saw something different, which is fine! Thanks for reading and commenting.
I’m curious why you all seem to be an episode ahead, it’s a spoiler-fest. :) This episode doesn’t air until July 4 here. Does Masterchef have different schedules for different regions?
I don’t think so, Mauibay. I get my information (of course from my cable guide) and also from an episode source website epguides.com, which lists dates and episode titles. Maybe it’s just your local affiliate?
. . . . .
Mauibay: Where is “here” … ??? Hawaii?
Yep, looks like the local Fox affiliate KHON airs them a week behind the schedule on TVRage. Interesting, thanks. I wish they didn’t do that. :)
You should check out hulu.com. You’ll be able to see them right after they air the first time.
I’m fine with just watching them a week behind on my DVR, I just wish CliqueClack didn’t put spoilers in an article title! I love the “What’s On Tonight” email list, but it includes 3 selected article links at the bottom of the email that I can simply avoid clicking on if I haven’t watched the show yet and want to avoid spoilers. I can’t avoid the spoiler if they put it right in the article title! Even if I wasn’t a week behind, maybe I just haven’t watched the show yet on my DVR!
I only started to watch MC US since yesterday, when I read Season 2 is now going…
I’m from Australia and am totally bored with our current series of MC. Too much back stories, not enough cooking and well, the contestants this time are well below par.
I’d rather watch the US season. More ballsy, more cooking and far more interesting contestants.
I know Max was a bit arrogant and obnoxious but in all honesty, I think he was playing that bit up a bit. I noticed at times, a very tender side to him.. he was rather nice about Christine winning against him.
The ones I can’t handle are Esther (throw under bus girl) and Suzy, who appears to be more arrogant than Max.
Good luck to Ben, I’d love for him to go far ..
